In 2002 Memphis Area Pharmacist Society (MAPS) President, Brenda Warren along with the states leading technician advocate Mary Margaret Laughlin met with eight certified pharmacy technicians from different practice settings (clinical, specialty, retail, hospital, research and educational) to form not only Memphis' first society, but also the first in Western Tennessee. This group met multiple times over the summer to lay the groundwork for the formation of the Memphis Area Certified Pharmacy Technician Society (MACPhTS). In September 2002, the MAPS President along with MACPhTS President had a joint meeting at Coor's Belle recognizing the technician society. This meeting was the first of many conducted over the last two years. Each September, MAPS & MACPhTS host a joint meeting to bring both Pharmacists and Technicians together as one.
Currently the Memphis Area Certified Pharmacy Technician Society has held 15 lectures providing CPhT's more than 30 hours of Continuing Education over the last 3 years. The Memphis Area Certified Pharmacy Technician Society is the only Memphis / Western Tennessee society dedicated to representing your interests.
